Finance Minister to Lead Sudan's Delegation to Washington Spring Meetings
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, is to lead the Sudanese delegation participating in the 2025 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WB), which is being held in Washington, D.C., during April 21-27. The meetings is to discuss key global economic developments and macroeconomic challenges, as well as issues of digitization, financial services technology, and climate change. Accompanying events include seminars and discussion sessions on global economic issues, international development, and financial markets. The Minister is expected to hold a series of important meetings, on the sidelines of the meetings, with a number of representatives of international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, as well as regional financing institutions.
The Minister of Finance will also hold talks with a number of his counterparts, ministers of finance and economy, from the countries participating in the meetings, with the aim of strengthening joint economic cooperation and developing bilateral partnerships to serve the country's development priorities. The issue of settling Sudan's external debt is at the top of the agenda of the meetings, in addition to efforts to refinance a number of vital projects in the health, education, and humanitarian support sectors, through cooperation with specialized international organizations.
The Sudanese delegation participating in the Spring Meetings in Washington includes the Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Bashar, along with a high-level technical delegation from relevant departments within the ministry.
