Al-Burhan Meets Mauritanian Parliamentary Delegation
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Tuesday with the visiting Mauritanian parliamentary delegation, in the presence of the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Idris Ismail. The meeting touched on various issues of concern to the two brotherly countries. The Acting Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs explained, in a press statement, that the Mauritanian delegation's visit came within the framework of the strong relations between the two countries, noting that it is the first Arab and African parliamentary delegation to visit the country during this period.
He emphasized that the visit is in solidarity with the Sudanese people in confronting the current crisis. He explained that the delegation asserted that this war was waged by a rebel group that attempted to overthrow the government, but that the wisdom and skill of the commandership of the armed forces enabled Sudan to thwart this conspiracy in its infancy. He stated that the Mauritanian parliamentary delegation promised to convey the facts of what is happening in Sudan to the Mauritanian people and to the Arab and African public opinion. He added that TSC President asked the delegation to convey the gratitude and appreciation of the Sudanese government and people to the Mauritanian government and people for their contributions to the Sudanese people and community residing in Mauritania. For his part, Mauritanian MP Mustafa Dah Sohaib said that the meeting touched on the historical relations between the two countries from a cultural perspective, stressing the vitality of Sudanese-Mauritanian relations, indicating that they are resilient to internal and external changes. He added that President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council thanked the Mauritanian people for standing by Sudan and embracing the Sudanese community in Mauritania.
