Government Orders UN Officials to Leave the Country
On Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation summoned Laurent Bukera, Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) office in Sudan, informing him that the Sudanese government has declared him and Samantha Catrag, Director of the Operations Department, persona non grata and ordered them to leave the country within 72 hours.
The government affirmed its full commitment to cooperate with all international organizations operating in Sudan in accordance with internationally recognized norms and laws, including respect for state sovereignty.
The decision, however, does not affect the ongoing cooperation with the World Food Programme in Sudan.
