Sudan participates in 3rd African conference for promoting peace in Nouakchott

The African Conference for Promoting Peace inaugurated yesterday, in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, under the generous patronage of the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania with wide international participation. The Sudanese delegation taking part in the conference headed Abdel Atti Ahmed Abbas, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments. The opening session of the conference was addressed by His Excellency the Mauritanian President, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazwani, who expressed thanks and appreciation to the leaders, heads of state, ministers and ambassadors participating in the activities of the conference for their great interest in issues of peace and its promotion and spreading peace in the African continent. He called for confronting terrorism and spreading the culture of peace and stability among societies in the countries of the world through intellectual immunization, which requires persistent work and concerted efforts to consolidate the values of tolerance. His Excellency President Al-Ghazwani said that this session of the conference affirms the importance of sustainability and inclusiveness to unify ranks to confront violence and terrorism in the countries of the African continent. Concluding his address to the opening session he announced the beginning and launch of the work of the African Conference for the Promotion of Peace in its 3rd edition.
For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Forum for Promoting Peace, emphasized during his address at the opening session of the conference the concern in peace in Africa, and said that peace is the only option in the world, and without peace there would be neither religion nor world. He pointed to the peculiarity of this conference to discuss peace, search for the causes of fighting in the continent, and seek reconciliation among people.
