TSC President discusses with Italian Ambassador to Sudan several issues
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met Wednesday with the Italian Ambassador accredited to Sudan and temporarily resident in Addis Ababa. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil, explained in a press statement, that the meeting discussed Italy's support for Sudan and its people, indicating that the ambassador's delegation includes the Director of the Development Agency, which is one of the organizations working in the fields of agriculture and health, noting that Italy's positions towards Sudan are commendable, as its position was expressed by the ambassador during the meeting with TSC President, in which he criticized the deviation of the Sudanese Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Tagadum) and its transformation into supporting the rebellion, stressing Italy's support and keenness on the unity of Sudan and the integrity of its territories. Ambassador Al-Fadil pointed out that TSC President briefed the Italian Ambassador on the next stage in Sudan, stressing that the coming period will witness the formation of a transitional government headed by a technocratic prime minister who does not belong to any party or political entity, and then move to the stage of organizing free and fair elections.
For his part, the Italian Ambassador Michele Tomasi expressed his happiness to return to work in Sudan again after 22 months of the outbreak of war in Sudan, explaining that his mission will be on two tracks, political and humanitarian, stating that the meeting with the President Al-Burhan was a fruitful and productive where the path of cooperation between Italy and Sudan was reviewed, noting that the meeting touched on the means and methods to end the conflict and ways to achieve a ceasefire to facilitate the access of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it.
The Italian ambassador added that the meeting also discussed the human rights situation in Sudan during the transitional period, pointing out that the meeting also deliberated on coordination between Italy and the European Union regarding enhancing the state of stability in Sudan. Regarding the axis of humanitarian aid, the Italian ambassador explained that his country is providing aid in each of Al-Gadarif, Kassala and the Red Sea, revealing that several Italian non-governmental organizations are working to provide aid to the Sudanese in various regions of Sudan, underscoring that his country has provided more than 145 million euros in support in the fields of agriculture, health, women's empowerment and gender equality. He said that what Italy is doing reflects the strong relationship that linked the two countries, which confirms Italy's interest in peace and stability in Sudan.
