Press Statement
In line with the commitment of the Government of Sudan to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to war-affected areas, particularly the Darfur states, and to utilize all available border crossings for this purpose, the government has decided to extend the opening of the Adre' crossing for an additional three months, starting from February 16, 2025.
To ensure that this step alleviates the suffering of the people of Darfur, the Government of Sudan once more calls for decisive international measures against the Janjaweed RSF militia and its regional sponsor to comply with UN Security Council resolutions, demanding the militia to immediately halt its siege on El Fasher and the nearby camps of internally the nearby camps of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and to cease its attacks on them.
The said measures must also ensure that the crossing is not used to transport weapons and supplies to slaughter defenseless civilians. Additionally, it is imperative to guarantee that the militia does not obstruct or control the passage of humanitarian aid.
