Sudan Ambassador to Germany Calls for Designating RSF Militias A Terrorist Organization

Sudanese Ambassador to Germany, Ilham Ibrahim Ahmed, has called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and move from words to action by designating the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia as a terrorist organization and to facilitate delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.
In a press briefing held Tuesday at the embassy in Berlin, focusing on developments in Sudan in general and El Fasher in particular, Ambassador Ilham described the events in El Fasher as a continuation of the militia’s criminal records, which targets civilians amidst unacceptable international silence.
She explained that unless pressure is exerted to halt the flow of external military support by the militia’s backers and refraining from the provision of strategic and advanced weapons, the suffering of Sudanese civilians will continue, especially after the city endured a complete siege for over 500 days, with deliberate starvation of its inhabitants, despite the Security Council Resolutions demanding the lift of the siege and calling for safe passage of humanitarian aid.
She said the the militia disregarded this resolution and continued to commit crimes against humanity and ethnically based killings.
The ambassador noted the vigils and demonstrations organized by Sudanese communities in Germany in front of the Foreign Ministry in Berlin and in the cities of Hanover and Cologne, protesting the militia’s violations.
Representatives of German media outlets and humanitarian organizations attended the briefing, during which a documentary film depicting some of the violations committed by the militia in El Fasher was screened.
It is worth noting that Deutsche Welle conducted an interview with Ambassador Ilham Ibrahim, focusing on the developments in El Fasher and the violations of international humanitarian law perpetrated against civilians in the city.
