The Republic of Sudan
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Office of the Spokesperson and Media Directorate
Press Statement
In keeping with the principles established in the United Nations Charter on the state sovereignty and independence, and consistent with the UN General Assembly’s resolution establishing the Human Rights Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs renews its categorical rejection of the Human Rights Council resolution regarding the fact-finding mission in Sudan, a decision that the majority of members did not support.
The resolution adopts a misleading characterization of the crisis in Sudan while displaying extreme prejudice against the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). It further overlooks Sudan’s current pressing priorities, which are: ending the terrorist rebellion, stopping the ongoing atrocities against civilians, evacuating citizens’ homes and civilian objects, including hospitals and places of worship. And facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, in accordance with the Jeddah Declaration. In fact, voting on the resolution reflects the sharp division within the Human Rights Council over it, which fully justifies Sudan’s position.
The Government of Sudan once again affirms its keenness to promote human rights in the country, and that SAF and all regular forces are fully committed to international humanitarian law and human rights law.
