TSC President meets Arab League's Secretary-General

TSC President meets Arab Leagues Secretary General

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Monday with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, accompanied by a League's high-level delegation, in the presence of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Youssef, the Ambassador of Sudan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Sudan Delegate to the Arab League, General Imad-Eddin Adawi.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League said, in a press statement, that the meeting with TSC President was very positive, in which the position of the Arab League was clarified in support of Sudan and its people. He added, "We are all hopeful for achieving an immediate cessation of fighting in Sudan, its reconstruction and building, and the return of the displaced and refugees to their homes," pointing out that he listened to the humanitarian dimensions of the problem, which he described as an extremely difficult problem.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League added that there was a discussion about how the Arab League can help and contribute, in coordination with the international community and the African Union, to the return of peace and stability to Sudan. He said that the activity carried out by the Arab League, the United Nations, the African Union and some influential parties aims to control the situation and help Sudan get out of this crisis. Abul-Gheit stated that his visit to Sudan will open eyes to the size of the problem and the need for more effort and action to achieve an immediate cessation of war, return peace and stability and provide the opportunity for the Sudanese people to secure their lives and return stability to their country. For his part, the Sudanese Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, General Imad-Eddin Adawi, said that the Arab League has always stood by Sudan, supporting its just causes and supporting its existing national institutions, indicating that the League's position towards Sudan represents a security fence that emphasizes the need not to interfere in Sudan's internal affairs, referring to the League's honorable positions towards Sudan, noting that it has organized a number of workshops during the past period to rebuild the industrial and agricultural sectors. Adawi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States for his visit to Sudan at this important time, referring to the other meetings he held with TSC Member, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, and with Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Culture and Information, which focused in general on the violations that the terrorist militia of Al-Dagalo has been committing against civilians and targeting state institutions and infrastructure, referring to the support that these militias find from some neighboring and regional countries, asserting that the targeting that Sudan is exposed to constitutes a threat to the security of Sudan, the neighborhood and the region in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.
