Prime Minister Holds Talks with Vatican Pope in Rome

A high-level ministerial, diplomatic and security delegation participated in talks held on Monday between Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris and Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, focusing on Sudan’s government plan to achieve peace, as well as issues related to security, stability and joint cooperation.
The delegation included Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Muawiya Othan Khalid; and Deputy Director-General of the General Intelligence Service Lt. Gen. Abbas Mohamed Bakhit.
Also attending the meeting were Sudan’s Ambassador to Rome Ambassador Imad-Eddin Mirghani; Sudan’s Ambassador to Geneva Ambassador Hassan Hamid; Acting Chargé d’Affaires of Sudan’s Embassy in Paris Salah Mohamed Izhag; the Prime Minister’s Special Representative Dr. Al-Hussein Al-Khalifa Al-Siddig Al-Hafyan; and Prime Minister’s Adviser Nizar Abdalla Mohamed.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual concern. Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reviewed the Sudanese government’s efforts to promote peace and stability and support national dialogue initiatives, reaffirming the government’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Vatican in support of humanitarian causes and global peace.
