TSC President Meets French Parliamentary Delegation
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Sunday with a French parliamentary delegation headed by Mr. Christopher Mario, in the presence of Darfur Region Governor Minni Arko Minnawi. The meeting discussed developments in Sudan and government efforts to achieve security and stability across the country.
The TSC President briefed the French delegation on violations and atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia against civilians, in addition to the systematic targeting of state assets, institutions, and infrastructure projects.
For his part, French parliamentarian Mr. Christopher Mario said the visit aims to assess grave violations committed against civilians by the RSF militia in Darfur and other regions. He added that France maintains close relations with Sudan and is working with European partners to ensure Sudan’s unity, noting that he has submitted a request to the French Parliament to designate the RSF militia as a terrorist organization, in view of its inhumane practices and crimes committed against civilians. Mr. Mario further stated that the French Foreign Minister had announced plans to visit Sudan in the coming period alongside the German Foreign Minister, describing the move as evidence of France’s willingness to strengthen relations with Sudan as a strategic partner. He affirmed that stability in Sudan represents stability for the wider region.
