Sudan, Türkiye Discuss Economic Cooperation at Ankara Meeting
The Sudanese Embassy in Ankara organized an economic meeting between State Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Counselor Mohamed Nour Abdeldaiem, and senior officials of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), in the presence of Sudan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Turkish officials, and private sector representatives.
The discussions focused on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
TOBB officials reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen partnerships with Sudan, highlighting the country’s vast investment potential and strategic position as a gateway to Africa.
Minister Abdeldaiem expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s solidarity with Sudan and conveyed condolences over the recent Turkish military aircraft crash. He underscored Sudan’s view of Türkiye as a key strategic partner in the post-war recovery phase, noting that relations between the two nations have seen remarkable progress in recent years. He briefed participants on the situation in Sudan, emphasizing the shift from humanitarian relief to reconstruction. The minister outlined major investment opportunities in infrastructure, electricity, water, sanitation, waste-to-energy projects, industrial zones, solar component production, and gold refining, urging enhanced banking cooperation following the resumption of Ziraat Bank’s operations in Port Sudan.
Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination through the Sudanese Embassy in Ankara, exchange project information, and prepare for a Sudan–Türkiye Investment Forum aimed at increasing trade volume and encouraging private-sector involvement in Sudan’s reconstruction efforts.
