Auditor General Confirms Improvement in Public Finance’s Performance

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council, lt Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, on Monday received the Auditor General of Sudan, Salah al-Din Mohamed Othman.
The meeting discussed ways to overcome challenges facing the work and duties of the Auditor General’s Office, as well as issues related to financial auditing, with the aim of enhancing the Office’s performance, accuracy, and independence.
In a press statement, the Auditor General said he briefed the Chairman of the Sovereign Council on the Office’s performance and the financial reports of various state institutions, in addition to the 2024 financial report for government units. He noted that the accounts of 398 government units and 18 banks, as well as companies and government units in secure states, have been audited.
Salah al-Din indicated that the government financial performance is showing significant improvement in revenues, despite the difficult circumstances the country is currently witnessing. He also pointed out that the accounts of several Sudanese embassies have been audited. He expressed his complete satisfaction with the Office’s performance despite the difficulties faced.
The Auditor General stated that he briefed the Chairman of the Sovereign Council on the outcomes of his participation in the 25th International Conference of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI 25), held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. He added that the Chairman of the Sovereign Council pledged to set a framework for implementing the Auditor General’s recommendations to improve performance, emphasizing the Bureau’s full independence.
