Joint Force Affirms Armed Forces, Joint Forces, and People's Resistance's Commitment to International Humanitarian Law
The Official Spokesman for the Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements, Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, has affirmed the Armed Forces, Joint Force, and the People's Resistance's full and strict commitment to international humanitarian law and human rights in their military operations. He pointed out the forces' commitment to distinguishing between military and civilian targets, treating prisoners in accordance with the Geneva Conventions, and ensuring healthcare and fair treatment for prisoners. He emphasized that the commitment of the Armed Forces, the Joint Force, and the People's Resistance to treating prisoners well represents a commitment to the true Islamic religion, which urges the good treatment of prisoners. He cited Quranic verses and hadiths that emphasize the importance of treating prisoners well. He explained that this commitment precedes international laws established by humankind, noting that this approach also includes refraining from harming the elderly, children, and women in battle, reflecting the forces' respect for humanitarian and religious values. He highlighted the high morals of the armed forces, the joint force, and the People's Resistance, underlining their commitment to the ideal rules of war.
In a statement to SUNA, Coloniel Mustafa pointed out that one of the most important of these rules was that the armed forces and supporting forces rely on their own people, the proud Sudanese people, in their military operations. They have been raised to love their homeland and preserve its gains.
In the same context, Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa revealed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has continuing to commit serious violations against civilians and prisoners, including imposing a complete siege on civilians in El-Fashir, leading to shortages of food and medicine, and continuing artillery shelling against civilians in their homes, markets, hospitals, and healthcare centers. He explained that the militia has resorted to hiring international mercenaries to kill innocent civilians as a result of its failure to confront the Sudanese Armed Forces and the joint force of the armed struggle and People's Resistance movements on the ground. Colonel Mustafa indicated that the war in Sudan was not solely with the militia, but rather there are external agendas seeking to plunder the country's wealth and resources. He said that if the armed forces, the joint force, and the People's Resistance had been fighting the Dagalo family militia alone, the war would not have dragged on so long and would have already been resolved. Colonel Mustafa attributed El-Fashir's resilience to the Grace of Allah Almighty, in addition to the unity, solidarity, and cohesion among the forces, and the support of El-Fashir's citizens who chose to remain in the city despite the challenges. He emphasized that these combined factors led to the forces' success in repelling repeated attacks by the militia. He sent a message to the Sudanese people to adhere to unity and stand behind the armed forces and their supporting forces to defeat the Dagalo family's project and the mercenaries and foreign agendas behind them.
