Finance Ministry denies TV channel's report on the Minister signing contract with Egyptian-German company
Portsudan, March 20, 2025 (SUNA) - Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has stressed the inaccuracy of a TV channel's report that the Minister signed a contract with an Egyptian-German company to seize half a million tons of scrap iron from burned vehicles and machinery owned by citizens, to be sold to the company for liquefaction and sale as scrap iron. It is well known that the nature of the Ministry's business and jurisdiction have no relation to the signing of such an alleged contract. Citizens' vehicles and machinery plundered and burned by the militia are protected and are the responsibility of the state's security, police, and regulatory agencies. Even the disposal of surplus funds in the government sector is undertaken by the relevant authorities, not the Ministry of Finance.
Regarding the expropriation of agricultural and investment lands, this is not within the Ministry's jurisdiction, and accusing the Ministry of implementing it is illogical and unrealistic. The Ministry affirms that the statement published and circulated on social media is completely false and lacks any credibility. The circulated statement is a fabrication against Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim. The Ministry emphasizes that the Minister's statements are made through the Ministry's official media outlets and government media outlets, while reminding people to communicate with the Ministry's media outlets to obtain the Minister's official statements.
