President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan met on Wednesday in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The meeting touched on bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance cooperation relations between Sudan and Turkey.
TSC President briefed Turkish President on the crimes and atrocities committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Militia against civilians and its devastation of the country's infrastructure, pointing to the Sudanese government's response to calls for peace and its participation in the Jeddah talks, which led to the signing of the Jeddah Agreement in May 2023, an agreement that the rebel RSF militia did not commit to implementing.
Al-Burhan praised the distinguished level of cooperation relations between Khartoum and Ankara, expressing his thanks and appreciation to Turkey for its continuous support for the Sudanese people through the valuable humanitarian aid it provided to citizens affected by war, torrents and floods.
He praised the positions of the Republic of Turkey in support of Sudan in international and regional forums.
The meeting was attended, from the Sudanese side by Ambassador Hussein Awad, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Al-Harith Idris, Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations.
