Kamil Idris stresses intensification of national efforts to rebuild the country's health system
Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris stressed the need to strengthen national efforts to rebuild the country's health system, praising the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) and its recent interventions, particularly in the cholera eradication program, which has yielded significant positive results.This came during his reception at his office in Port Sudan on Monday of a WHO delegation, including Dr. Shebl Sahbani, WHO Representative in Sudan, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Health, where several issues related to the humanitarian health aspect, particularly epidemics and how to address this issue, were discussed.The WHO Representative in Sudan, said in press statements, that the meeting agreed on the need to expedite the national strategy to rebuild the health system and involve other ministries, institutions, and partners. He explained that the meeting discussed ways to rehabilitate the country's health system as a whole, including health institutions, human resources, and health infrastructure in general, in addition to emergency health intervention programs. Dr. Shebl Sahbani added that the meeting touched on the return of the World Health Organization to Khartoum State, underlining the need for a greater WHO presence in Khartoum and the states most affected by the war in the coming period. The WHO representative announced that the organization's return to Khartoum would take place in phases over the coming period, coinciding with the return of other public institutions.
