Government strongly condemns RSF treacherous drone attack on UN and humanitarian aid vehicles

Spokesperson of the Government of Sudan

The Sudanese government expresses its strong condemnation and deep concern over the grave incident that occurred last night, in which United Nations humanitarian aid vehicles were treacherously attacked by assault drones operated by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The attack took place in the Al-Koma area and constituted a deliberate attempt to obstruct humanitarian teams and prevent the delivery of aid to civilians trapped in the city of El Fasher and surrounding displacement camps.
These criminal acts resulted in the destruction of several UN trucks, the loss of life among guards, drivers, and civilians, and injuries to members of the convoy’s security personnel.
The Sudanese government affirms that this assault constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a direct, deliberate attempt to undermine the ongoing humanitarian efforts being conducted in cooperation with the United Nations and international organizations to deliver urgent assistance to war-affected and vulnerable civilians.
The government unequivocally rejects this criminal conduct by the militia and reiterates its full commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and humanitarian agencies to ensure the continued delivery of aid to its citizens in areas besieged by the militia.
