HAC urges humanitarian organizations to bring food and medicine into El-Fashir
The Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC), Salwa Adam Biniya, has expressed her astonishment at the failure of the 80 international humanitarian organizations operating in the country to bring any food or medical supplies to El-Fashir residents throughout the siege, which has lasted more than two years. She explained that these organizations, at the same time, have continued to deliver food and medical supplies to El-Fula via the Adre crossing in the far west of the country. This came during the 26th briefing conference of the Ministry of Culture and Information, organized by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Tuesday afternoon in the conference hall of the Secretariat-General of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC).
HAC Commissioner said that they had purchased large quantities of millet, calling on organizations to bring these food supplies to the residents of El-Fashir, particularly that they are in dire need of them.
She also stressed the need not to confuse humanitarian with political action, noting that their primary and ultimate goal is to deliver support to any Sudanese citizen in need, regardless of their location.
Salwa Adam Biniya also discussed the structure of the general guidelines for humanitarian aid, and that, as an organizing body for humanitarian voluntary work, they are fully prepared to overcome any obstacles that hinder the work of these organizations. She urged organizations to communicate with them, as they possess accurate information on the numbers of displaced persons, their locations, and the extent of their needs. It is worth noting that the press conference was attended by a large number of representatives of international and regional organizations, agencies, and bodies accredited in Sudan, as well as the media.
