Sudan calls on international community to contribute to the reconstruction of the industrial sector

Sudan called on the international community to contribute to the reconstruction of industrial sector institutions destroyed by the rebel militia, which exceeded 3,600 industrial facilities in Khartoum and Al-Gezira states alone, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
This came in the statement presented by the Sudan Permanent Representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Magdi Ahmed Mufaddal, before the fifty-second session of the Industrial Development Board Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
The ambassador praised the extended partnership between Sudan and UNIDO and the organization's support for the country in capacity building, vocational training and implementing various projects funded by development partners in Japan, Italy, the European Union, Canada and others, stressing Sudan's aspiration to enhance the benefit from partnership and country programs to support industrial development.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Mufaddal called on UNIDO and its partners to support Sudan's efforts in assessing the vandalism to the industrial sector, industrial planning, agricultural processing, medium and small enterprises, building the capacities of the Ministry of Industry and its affiliated institutions, integrated industrial complexes, vocational training, upgrading the skills of youth and women, and access to markets, recalling in this regard Sudan's great potential in the fields of agriculture and animal resources and its potential to contribute to achieving food security in Africa and the Arab world.
It is worth noting that the fifty-second session of the Industrial Development Council, in which the presidency of the Council was transferred from Sudan to Austria, will continue its work until tomorrow, Wednesday, November 27.
