TSC President meets UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Tuesday with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, in the presence of Ambassador Omar Issa, Acting Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Ambassador Omar Issa said, in a press statement, that the meeting was positive and fruitful, addressing the overall humanitarian situation and the efforts made to deliver humanitarian aid to those who deserve it, noting that the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs expressed his satisfaction with what the Sudanese government is providing and doing in facilitating the procedures for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the arrival of their technical teams to the areas they requested to visit.
MFA Acting Under-Secretary added that TSC President directed the competent authorities to cooperate with the United Nations and its various agencies in Sudan, expressing his complete satisfaction with the existing cooperation between the two parties.
Al-Burhan also urged the United Nations and its agencies to make more efforts to deliver relief to those in need.
Omar Issa indicated that the crossings and airports will be opened to facilitate the flow of aid and said, "There are some requests submitted by the UN mission and they will be studied by the Sudanese side," noting that some proposals are positive and will be responded to in the coming days.
For his part, Tom Fletcher expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the Sudanese government aimed at enhancing and advancing the domains of humanitarian action, providing assistance and delivering humanitarian aid, "My visit to Sudan came within the framework of standing on the field on the humanitarian conditions and the work of the technical teams affiliated with the mission on the ground and listening to their vision with the aim of taking the necessary arrangements to support the humanitarian fields."
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs said, "TSC President conveyed to him the government's assurances and keenness to work, cooperate and coordinate jointly with the United Nations to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it." Tom stressed the importance of partnership and cooperation between the two sides to reach those in need and deliver humanitarian aid to them, in addition to solving the challenges facing humanitarian action, stressing the keenness of the United Nations and doubling its efforts to ensure the access and flow of humanitarian aid to those in need.
