The Group of the Friends of Sudan has welcomed the signing of the framework agreement by a broad representation of the political forces and the military component.
The group urged all the Sudanese stakeholders to continue their efforts to conclude a final political agreement and to establish a credible civilian-led government as soon as possible.

The group also commended the role of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), (the tripartite mechanism) for their facilitation efforts.
The Group of the Friends of Sudan stressed its commitment to supporting the political transition and achieving the aspirations of the Sudanese people for freedom, peace, justice and prosperity, indicating that it looks forward to resuming the strategic cooperation and support to Sudan.
The group pointed out that the success of the ongoing political dialogue in Sudan depends on creating a favorable environment that includes the release of detainees, support for freedom of expression, respect for the right to peaceful assembly free of violence, as well as the participation of women and youths.
The Group of the Friends of Sudan called on the tripartite mechanism to continue to support the Sudanese stakeholders in the next phase of the consultations by promoting broad-based consultations and dialogue between the parties to lay down the foundations for a final agreement and to address the critical issues that the signatories of the political framework agreement have agreed to continue discussing which are: the security sector reform, the transitional justice, the Juba agreement for peace in Sudan, the dismantling committee, the East and the economy issues.
