Khartoum, Dec. 27 (SUNA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdalla Omer Bashir, received in his office Monday the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Khartoum, Ali bin Hassan Ja’afar, who conveyed to the undersecretary the thanks of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan for its supportive stances to Saudi Arabia in a number of international and regional issues. The Saudi Ambassador also affirmed firm stand of his country to Sudan in all its issues, referring to the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to continue economic and humanitarian assistance to Sudan. The Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry has appreciated the strong relations between Sudan and Saudi Arabia, indicating that the opening of the Saudi Consulate in Pot-Sudan city will facilitate serving the interests of both countries. He also expressed thanks to Saudi Arabia for its generous support to the Sudanese people in the various economic and humanitarian aspects. The meeting has discussed the developments in the region, including finding a joint mechanism for the eight countries bordering the Red Sea to protect and serve their common interests, and the need to draw the attention of the international community regarding the large Saudi oil tanker detained by the Houthis in the Safer port so that it does not turn into an environmental disaster that threatens the marine life in the Red Sea region. The meeting also reviewed the political developments in Yemen and the importance of putting an end to the suffering of Yemenis and improving their humanitarian conditions. MO
