Higher Committee for Winter Agricultural Season Reviews Obstacles Facing Cultivation

Khartoum, Dec. 22 (SUNA) – The higher committee for the agricultural season Wednesday held a meeting at the Council of Minister, headed by the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and reviewed the problems and obstacles facing the winter season cultivation operations, especially regarding the wheat cultivation which is a strategic commodity. The meeting discussed the obstacles related to irrigation, fertilizers and the electricity power in the Northern State and Gezira Scheme. The meeting stressed the importance of forming a technical working group from the competent authorities to follow up on solutions to problems related to the urgent provision of urea fertilizers to support the wheat cultivation, the provision of burlap for the winter season, and the providing machinery for the cleaning of canals in the coming period at Gezira and Managel Schemes.
