Khartoum 7-11-2021 (SUNA) - The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu, has pledged to support Sudan's efforts to develop the agricultural sector, as the (FAO) allocated $150,000 as initial funding for the implementation of the Hand in Hand initiative, for sustainable and inclusive food farming systems in Sudan. The grant aims to establish an Agricultural Transformation Agency in Sudan, which will work with the Ministry of Agriculture to promote and coordinate international sustainable development efforts to address the root causes of poverty and malnutrition. Sudan's accession to the Hand in Hand initiative came as a result of the unremitting efforts of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Agriculture and the Sudan Mission in Rome. IF/IF
