UNHCR’s Assistant arrives in the country

Khartoum, July 11(SUNA) - Assistant UN High Commissioner for Refugees for Operations Raouf Mazou arrived today in the country heading a delegation that includes UNHCR Regional Director for East Africa, Horn of Africa and Great Lakes and the Regional Director for foreign relations. Mr. Mazou would meet during his five-day visit visit to the country the Sudanese officials in charge of refugees and inspects refugees’ camps in Eastern Sudan. The Assistant UN High Commissioner for Refugees and his delegation left today to Kassala state accompanied by representatives from Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Government officials besides UNHCR’s Resident representative in Sudan. The UNHCR delegation met  in Kassala State acting Wali (governor) Al-Tayeb Ahmed Al-Sheikh and discussed the challenges facing the state in the light of huge influxes of refugees arriving into the state.
