Khartoum, June 13 (SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan has hailed the role being assumed by the African Union (AU) in addressing the African issues. This came when the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council received at his office here today visiting delegation of the AU that is led by Chairperson of the AU Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat and comprises AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoy, senior advisor of Chairperson of the AU Commission Mohamed El Hacen Lebatt and head of AU office in Khartoum Ambassador Mohamed Belaiche, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi. Al-Burhan welcomed AU’s efforts for resolving the crisis of the Renaissance Dam and border tensions with neighboring Ethiopia, affirming his full confidence in the approaches of the AU for finding African solutions to the African issues, referring to the successful efforts of the AU in Libya, Central Africa Republic and Chad. Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mariam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi presented a thorough briefing to the AU delegation on the crisis of the Renaissance Dam and border tensions with Ethiopia, reiterating Sudan’s adherence to reaching a binding legal agreement on the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam. On his part, the Chairperson of the AU Commission affirmed stand of the AU beside the Sudan and its support to the transitional government to surpass current challenges. He called on the parties of the transitional period to engage in internal national dialogue on the issues of transition without exclusion. BT/BT
