Justice Minister meets UN Women Representative

Khartoum, April 15 (SUNA) - The Minister of Justice, Nasreddin Abdel-Bari, and UN Women Country Representative in Sudan Ms. Adjaratou Fatou Ndiaye discussed during a meeting here today ways and means of boosting cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and UN Women to promote the rights of women in Sudan. The Minister of Justice stated that the inclusion of the gender equality provision is a fundamental pillar in the ministry’s legal reform process. He pointed out that the legislative system based on gender equality would guarantee the rights of women in the future and prevents repetition of the oppression women had experienced in the past. For her part, Ms. Ndiaye affirmed UN Women’s support to the Ministry of Justice in the process of transfer into a justice system that guarantees women's rights and gender equality. BT/BT
