Medeni, Dec. 8 (SUNA) - The first conference for sustainable development in the irrigated sector in Sudan, will be launched tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Institute of Water Management and Irrigation of Al- Gezira University, in cooperation with the Al-Rahad Agricultural Authority, Al-Suki Agricultural Project, the Al-Gazira Scheme and the private sector, sponsored by the Acting Governor of Al- Gazira state, Dr. Abdullah Idris Al-Kinin. The Dean of the Water and Irrigation Institute noted to SUNA that the conference aims to discuss the challenges and obstacles facing the irrigated sector, and the contribution to setting a plan for the Sudan’s sustainable agriculture development, in coordination with the relevant authorities. He pointed out that the conference will discuss a number of working papers on irrigated projects in Sudan and the contribution of the private sector, and scientific papers concerned with developing brands, crop composition and modern technologies in agriculture, in addition to the role of agricultural colleges in Sudan and the impact of climate change on agriculture. ta
