Khartoum, Oct.25 (SUNA) -The Head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lt. General, Abdul Fattah met, Sunday, at his office, the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Smail Chergui and United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, in the presence of the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary, Ambassador, Mohammed Sherief. The AU Official said in press statements that the meeting aimed at renewing support to Sudan following the brilliant achievements in Sudan, top of which, the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, in Juba, on Oct.3. He underlined that the event is considered a win for the African continent, referring to Sudan’s success in the revocation of its name from the list of the countries sponsoring terrorism. “The meeting reviewed means of AU and UN contributions to support Sudan during the coming period, whether in the context of implementing the peace agreement or economic assistances” He added. The UN Undersecretary General for Peace keeping Operations has described his meeting with Al-Burhan as positive and fruitful, affirming that the peace Agreement which signed in Juba is considered big achievement.
