Khartoum, Sept. 24 (SUNA) - France has announced its sending to the first batch of humani-tarian relief aid to Sudan, which will arrive in Khartoum on Saturday. The Embassy of France in Khartoum stated in a press statement that the French authorities decided to supply Sudan with 27 tons of emergency humanitarian equipment to help the affected population following the unprecedented floods that severely affected the country, The embassy indicated that the first shipment of 13 tons of equipment, which includes family tents, kitchen supplies, blankets and water purification tablets, will arrive on Saturday, September 26, so as to be distributed by the Sudanese authorities to the needy people, adding that two more shipments are scheduled to arrive on September 28 and October 3. According to the statement around 250 families, or 1,300 people, will benefit from this equipment in the short term. The Embassy of France indicated that this support, funded by the Crisis and Support Center of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, is part of the civil protection mechanism in the European Union.
