Khartoum, March 8 (SUNA) - The Dutch government has renewed its support for the transi-tional government in the field of rain-fed agriculture and food security. This came when the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Professor Yassir Abbas met at his office on Sunday with the Dutch ambassador in Khartoum, accompanied by a number of counselors at the embassy. The two sides discussed ways to support small farms in the rain-irrigation areas in Sudan and ways to increase productivity to achieve food security. The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources expressed his appreciation for the great sup-port provided by the Netherlands to Sudan in the field of capacity building, short and long training sessions (Masters - PhD) in the past and present, referring to the strong relations be-tween the two countries and the valuable support the Netherlands extends to Sudan in the field of removing silt and weeds at the irrigation canals and Rosseires Dam.
