Government will Rehabilitate War Affected Areas in Darfur

Khartoum, Sep. 29 (SUNA) – Member of the Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, pointed out the government will work to rehabilitate the war-affected areas in Darfur and making them attractive for the volun-tary repatriation of the displaced persons and refugees, in accordance with the constitutional document. During his meeting Sunday with leaders of the native administration in South Darfur State, Lt. Gen. Daglo called on the people of Darfur to be part of the peace process and to sit with their sons abroad to convince them to join the peace process. He renewed the desire for return of the humanitarian and relief organizations to operate in Darfur region, indicating that these organizations will not be obstructed and that their mission to deliver humanitarian aid will be eased. He called on the displaced citizens at camps to determine whether they want the local authori-ties to assume the planning for their houses and to deliver these houses to them or they want to their home areas. Lt. Gen. Daglo said that the Rapid Support Forces are ready to help any displaced person to return voluntarily to his area or farm, calling on the people of Darfur to unite their rank for the sake of realizing development and rehabilitation in the country. He affirmed the commitment to the security of the agricultural season, referring to consultations with the Council of Ministers for implementing small-scale projects, schools and health centers to support the voluntary return of the displaced persons and refugees to their home areas. He pointed to the directives given by the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council for taking legal procedure against those who refuse to hand over their illegal arms to the government authorities. Lt. Gen. Daglo also referred to the several cases of impersonating the members of the Rapid Support Forces with the aim to distort their image, adding that many criminal reports were filed against the involved persons.
