Khartoum, June 16 (SUNA) – Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Military Council, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, Sunday received at the Republican Palace the initiative of lecturers of the Sudanese universities, colleges and higher institutes for the homeland. In a press statement after their meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Military Council, Dr. Najm Al-Bushary, has described the initiative as a patriotic and independent one, which was presented by the lecturers of 34 government universities and 70 nongovernmental universities and colleges that express the aspiration of the Sudanese people. Dr. Al-Bushary said that the initiative was based on specific ideas; top of them is the preservation of the security and stability of Sudan and support to a comprehensive dialogue among all the components of the people to emerge with a new Sudan in which the values of freedom and peace are realized. He explained that the initiative has presented solutions to the economic, political and social issues, reform of the state as well as the formation of a government of competencies for the transitional period. He said that the TMC Deputy Chairman has pledged to provide support for the universities to carry out their role properly. He indicated that the TMC Deputy Chairman has called for formation of independent committees in the legal, political and information fields to help the Transitional Military Council and the transitional government.
