Al-Burhan chairs expanded meeting to discuss progress of political process

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chaired on Wednesday an expanded meeting at the Guest House, in the presence of the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council, General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and the civil forces that signed the political framework agreement, in the presence of the (trilateral and quartet mechanisms), and the European Union.
The spokesman for the political process, Engineer Khaled Omar Youssef, said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the progress and what has passed of the political process, pointing to the important outcomes of the meeting represented in completing discussions on the two remaining issues of the transitional justice and security and military reform through workshops before the holy month of Ramadan next week. spokesman Khaled added that the meeting decided that the tripartite mechanism invites for a political mechanism from the agreed-upon signatories and non-signatories to immediately starts drafting a final agreement, and that the joint coordinating committee between the signatories and the trilateral mechanism work on setting a timetable to finish remaining tasks for the signing of a final agreement as soon as possible. He indicated that the Joint Coordinating Committee will continue meetings throughout the day during the coming days to expedite completion of the remaining steps.
