Launching of final stage of political process on 8th of current January

The civilian forces signatory to the framework agreement, assured in their meeting yesterday in the Umma Party House the inauguration of the final stage of the political process on the 8th of current January.

The civilian forces urged the agreed non-signatories to the agreement to participate in the political process in accordance with the political framework agreement signed on 25th December of 2022.
The civilian forces stressed in their meeting today that the final stage of the political process will be committed to the active participation of the broadest base of stakeholders, which would put in place comprehensive solutions to the issues raised in a way that secures a track of sustainable democratic transformation that benefits from the transitional experiences that the country went through before.
The Sudan News Agency hereunder presents the statement of the civilian forces signatory of the framework agreement:
The civilian forces signatory of the framework agreement held a meeting today, Thursday, January 5, 2023 - at the House of the National Umma Party in Omdurman, to discuss the current political developments, during which the meeting concluded the following:
1- The meeting assured the launching of the final stage of the political process on the 8th of January, and its beginning with a road map conference for renewing the process of dismantling the June 30 regime, which will be held from January 9-12, 2023 in the Friendship Hall in Khartoum, and then completing the remaining four issues according to what is Agreed upon by the signatory parties and the tripartite mechanism.
2- The meeting stressed that the issue of the parties had been previously agreed upon, and the meeting urged on the agreed upon non-signatories to participate in the political process in accordance with the framework political agreement signed on December 5, 2022, which laid the foundation for restoring the path of civil democratic transformation, which requires expediting the process of achieving the final stage in a manner that responds to the serious challenges currently facing the country.
3- The meeting affirmed that the final stage of the political process will be committed to the active participation of the broadest base of stakeholders, in a way that provides comprehensive solutions to the issues raised in a manner that secures a path of sustainable democratic transformation that benefits from the transitional experiences that the country went through before.
4- The meeting welcomed the international and regional positions in support of the political framework agreement, the latest of which was the statement issued by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on January 1, 2023, and the signatories stressed the importance of international and regional support for the political process led and owned by the Sudanese, and the need to activate coordination mechanisms with the international community in this stage in order to accelerate the completion of the framework agreement for a final political agreement, for which there is no alternative path in the political process.
5- The meeting commended the steps taken by the signatories to the framework agreement since its signing in regard to the development of coordination mechanisms between them, the unification of their positions, and the raising of the efficiency of their political performance and joint work, recommending the need to continue developing coordination and its mechanisms.
The signatories to the framework agreement saluted the struggles of the people and their firm adherence to the goals of their glorious revolution, assuring all the masses of the Sudanese people that they are determined to accelerate the steps to reach a final political agreement that contributes to ending the suffering that burdens the citizens, both men and women, in security, economic and social terms, and restores the path of democratic transformation and establishes the building of a strong and soverign Sudanese state on the basis of peace, freedom, justice and dignity for all the sons and daughters of this great nation.
