Prime Minister Briefed on Humanitarian Support for IDP Camps

Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris was briefed on the efforts of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare in supporting internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Northern State with winter supplies, as well as assistance provided to 650,000 families under the Ministry’s Ramadan program, which was launched in Al-Gezira State and distributed across various states of the country. This came during his meeting today in Khartoum with Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Dr. Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih. The meeting also reviewed humanitarian assistance delivered to South Kordofan State and its capital, Kadugli, through relief convoys carrying food supplies and medicines.
The meeting affirmed the urgent need to support and assist IDPs in El-Obeid through coordinated efforts by official bodies, the local community, and regional and international organizations.
Both sides underscored the importance of unified social responsibility across state institutions, alongside improving the management of IDP camps and coordinating humanitarian assistance in a manner that promotes stability for displaced populations.
The Minister further stressed the necessity of urgently supporting Khor Taggat camps in North Kordofan State and Goz Al-Salam camp in White Nile State. He announced that the Ministry is preparing for the Development Forum scheduled to be held in Khartoum in April 2026, as well as the National Forum for Persons with Disabilities planned for May 2026.
Dr. Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih also highlighted the importance of organizing social protection resources and restructuring the Zakat Chamber with a new vision to enhance its role in alleviating poverty among citizens and vulnerable groups. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing health insurance to achieve universal coverage. The Minister extended his profound appreciation to the Saudi Arabia for its continued support in the field of prosthetic limbs.
