Foreign Minister Holds Talks with Counterparts from Algeria, Norway, and Cuba on Sidelines of UNGA 80th Session
On the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 80th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohy-Eddin Salim, met on Friday, September 26, 2025, with his counterparts from Algeria (the current Arab member of the UN Security Council), Norway, and Cuba.
During his meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, the talks were characterized by positivity and mutual understanding on both bilateral and regional issues. The Minister expressed Sudan’s appreciation for the deep-rooted historical and fraternal relations between the two countries, extending his sincere thanks to Algeria for its significant and influential roles in safeguarding Sudan’s interests, particularly within the UN Security Council.
For his part, the Algerian Minister affirmed his country’s full and unwavering support to Sudan during its ordeal, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of agriculture, investment, and livestock.
In his meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, the Minister briefed him on the situation in Sudan, including the progress made by the army on the frontlines, as well as the formation of the civilian government, its programs, and vision. He stressed the government’s commitment to restoring security and stability.
The Norwegian Minister, in turn, expressed gratitude for the meeting, affirming Norway’s special interest in Sudan and its aspiration to find a path to peace. He also highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in El-Fashir and other areas, commending the government’s efforts in this regard, particularly the opening of humanitarian corridors.
During his meeting with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla, the Sudanese Minister discussed the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, underlining the importance of continued mutual support in all international fora. The Cuban Minister expressed his country’s full solidarity with the Government and people of Sudan, affirming Cuba’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, voicing his country’s desire to strengthen cooperation in the trade and economic fields.
