Armed Forces Issue a Statement Regarding an Article Containing Misleading Information about its Controlled Areas

Armed Forces1

The Armed Forces said in a statement Monday, "The media circulated an article accompanied by a map, published by the Sudan War Monitor website and republished by the BBC, containing misleading information about the control areas of the Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which rebelled against the Sudanese state."
The Armed Forces pointed out that "the information contained in the report and the published map lack accuracy and objectivity, especially regarding the areas highlighted in white, which suggest they are outside government control."
The Armed Forces affirmed that "this is a deliberate act aimed at sowing confusion among our citizens and indirectly casting doubt on the clear and significant progress our forces are making on the ground, contrary to the reality experienced by the Sudanese people and imposed by the will and determination of their sons in the Armed Forces and all the supporting forces under its banner in the war for national dignity, which have continued to defeat the militia and its allies on all fronts of combat." Hereunder the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) provides an unofficial translation of the text of the statement:
The media circulated an article accompanied by a map published by the Sudan War Monitor website and republished by the BBC, which contained misleading information regarding the locations controlled by the armed forces and the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.
While we note that the information contained in the report and the published map lack accuracy and objectivity, especially regarding the areas highlighted in white, which suggest they are outside government control, we affirm that this is a deliberate attempt to sow confusion among our citizens and indirectly cast doubt on the clear and significant progress our forces are making on the ground. This is inconsistent with the reality experienced by the Sudanese people and imposed by the will and determination of their sons in the armed forces and all the supporting forces under its banner in the war for national dignity, which have continued to defeat the militia and its allies on all fronts of combat. We will continue to confront these pathetic attempts, which we know are a futile attempt to boost the morale of the militia and its supporters by fabricating positions that do not exist on the ground through the relevant state bodies. We note that the areas where our forces are deployed have always been open to all press missions from various media outlets, which have visited and observed the true situation on the ground. We also renew our resolve and determination to continue relentlessly to cleanse all sites where the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia is located.
