MFA welcomes US sanctions on RSF militia leader, urges other countries to take similar steps

MOFA4

Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) issued a press statement on Wednesday appreciating the US government's conclusion that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Janjaweed, militia and its allies have committed genocide in Sudan.
The Foreign Ministry welcomed the sanctions imposed by the US administration on the militia commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and seven commercial companies owned by the militia in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), urging other countries to take similar steps against the militia leadership and its sponsors, calling for a unified and firm position from the international community in confronting this terrorist group to force it to stop its war against the Sudanese people, state and national institutions. Hereunder the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) publishes an unofficial translation of the MFA statement: -
The Foreign Ministry appreciates the US government's conclusion that the Janjaweed militia and its allies have committed genocide in Sudan. It welcomes the sanctions imposed on the militia commander, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and seven commercial companies owned by the militia in the UAE.
The Ministry agrees with the statement of the US Secretary of State that Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo is responsible for the systematic atrocities committed against the Sudanese people by the militia, including mass rapes, and that the commercial forefronts of the militia that it employs to finance its war are located in the UAE. MFA also notes that the statement of the US Treasury Department confirmed that the militia uses the deprivation of civilians from relief as a weapon of war against the Sudanese people, and that it systematically violates international humanitarian law and the Jeddah Declaration signed in May 2023.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges other countries to take similar steps against the militia leadership and its sponsors and calls for a unified and firm position from the international community in confronting this terrorist group to force it to halt its war against the Sudanese people, its state and its national institutions.
