TSC President meets Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Saturday with the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran, in the presence o, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ali Youssef and the Turkish Ambassador to Sudan.
Ambassador Ali Youssef explained, in a press statement, that the meeting touched on bilateral relations between Sudan and Turkey and areas of joint cooperation, pointing out that the meeting also addressed the Turkish initiative that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had presented to President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), indicating that the initiative is within the framework of achieving peace in Sudan, stressing that TSC President welcomed this initiative and requested the Turkish Minister to convey this welcome to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish Foreign Minister who is in charge of the details of running this initiative. Ambassador Ali Youssef said that the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister held several meetings, during his visit, with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economic Planning, stressing that the visit is an important one that carried the aspirations of Türkiye, government and people, towards Sudan and its people.
The Foreign Minister said that these meetings touched on the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, adding that the Turkish Minister said that his country is about to open a Turkish bank in Portsudan to contribute to strengthening and enhancing joint trade relations, in addition to opening a headquarters for the Turkish Aid Organization, which is concerned with providing development and humanitarian aid in various countries of the world, revealing that there are three ships carrying thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to Sudan.
The Foreign Minister stated that this visit by the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister will have consequences in terms of supporting relations between Sudan and Turkey, noting that the Turkish initiative can lead to real efforts to achieve peace in Sudan. For his part, the Turkish President's envoy expressed his happiness to visit Sudan, saying that he held meetings with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economic Planning, stating that they were fruitful and positive meetings.
The Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister extended his congratulations to the government and people of Sudan on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of independence, noting that Turkey and Sudan share joint historical values, stressing the necessity of Sudan's sovereignty, the unity and integrity of its territories, pointing out his country's support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at addressing the Sudanese crisis. He said that his country is making valuable efforts to achieve peace and stability in Sudan, indicating that Turkey's approach to ending the war in Sudan is clear, due to the distinguished relations between the two countries.
The Turkish official added that what his country is doing is a process that requires concerted efforts and then working to bring together regional actors and overcome difficulties in the issue of ending the conflict in Sudan. He added that the presence of the Turkish embassy in Sudan since the outbreak of the war and its work in Portsudan is evidence of Turkey's determination to stand by Sudan and its people. Prof. Duran explained that the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is currently working to reopen its offices in Portsudan, in addition to opening a branch of the Turkish Agricultural Bank. He pointed to the contributions of Turkish governmental and non-governmental relief agencies in providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, in addition to maintaining the Turkish hospital in Neyala, which is currently operating and providing its services to citizens.
The Turkish Minister revealed that three Turkish vessels arrived in Portsudan carrying 8,000 tons of humanitarian aid.
