The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reviewed the statements issued by several brotherly Arab nations, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States regarding the baseless allegations from the government of the United Arab Emirates, to the effect that the residence of its ambassador in Khartoum had been targeted by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). These allegations have been categorically refuted by the SAF which have reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding the inviolability of diplomatic premises in keeping with all international laws and conventions. It is essential to recall that the RSF militia has attacked more than (40) diplomatic missions, alongside international organizations and UN agencies. These crimes have been meticulously documented in reports submitted by Sudan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York to the Security Council, including incidents affecting the UAE’s own mission, without a single word of condemnation from the Emirati authorities.
The Ministry, therefore, wishes to set the record straight with the following clarifications:
- The property that the UAE claims was bombed, though in fact was never targeted by SAF, is owned by a Sudanese citizen who was brutally executed by the rogue Janjaweed militia. It has not been used as a diplomatic residence since the Militia waged war in April 2023. The UAE Embassy, like other embassies whose premises were attacked by the UAE-backed Janjaweed militia and turned by the latter into military barracks, relocated to PortSudan.
- In a flagrant misuse of the United Nations General Assembly platform, the head of the UAE delegation repeated these falsehoods in a clear attempt to deflect attention from his country’s egregious role in Sudan, including violations of international law, the UN Charter, the Arab League Charter, and established international norms. This ploy appears designed to negatively impact Sudan's relations with the sisterly Gulf states.
- A report by the UN Security Council’s Panel of Experts has unequivocally established that the UAE is the principal supplier of arms and financial support to the terrorist RSF militia. Investigative international media have further exposed the routes and methods UAE uses to deliver these arms, including the exploitation of the UAE Red Crescent’s emblem for this nefarious purpose. These investigations also reveal that no fewer than (200,000) foreign mercenaries are fighting alongside the rebel militia, with direct financial backing from the UAE. Sudan has lodged a formal complaint with the Security Council against the UAE, complete with comprehensive documentation, detailing its direct involvement in the atrocities and grave violations being inflicted on the Sudanese people.
-The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again reaffirms Sudan’s unwavering commitment to the sanctity and protection of diplomatic missions in strict accordance with the Vienna Convention. Like other diplomatic missions, the UAE Embassy operates from Port Sudan without any hassle, despite the disgraceful and hostile role of the UAE government in the ongoing war against Sudan and its people.
