Sudan participates in the 2nd GCM regional review conference in the Arab region
Arab conference

Sudan participated in the second Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) in the Arab Region at the headquarters of the Secretariat-General of the League of Arab States, held in Cairo during July 3 and 4, 2024, with a High-level Delegation headed by the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin Al-Fadil.
The acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Sudan’s speech at the meeting, explaining that due to the rebellion of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, Sudan has become one of the largest countries exporting immigration after it was one of the largest hosts of refugees from neighboring countries. He pointed to the displacement and refuge of more than fifteen million Sudanese from their homes, most of them women, children and the elderly, in areas that were subjected to attacks by the terrorist rebel militia. The ambassador Al-Fadil called for the development of solutions and recommendations that allow for safe, orderly and regular migration, and for countries receiving Sudanese migrants, due to the war imposed by the terrorist rebel militia, to take into account the basic principles of human rights on which the global agreement was built, by facilitating legal migration paths by granting entry visas and reactivating relevant agreements, non-refoulement, facilitating access to basic services, and integration into the receiving societies, which are sister societies to which we are linked by the ties of Arabism and history.
The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs chaired the sixth session of the conference, which discussed the experiences of Arab countries in monitoring and analyzing data on migrants in the Arab region and working to develop policies to govern the migration process in the future.
The Sudanese delegation also presented a paper on the rights of women and children in war and conflict zones, presenting the current situation of militia violations against women and children as an example.
