Amounting to million dollars, Health Ministry launches Kuwaiti grant for cancer patients in Port Sudan

Health Ministry launches Kuwaiti grant for cancer patients in Port Sudan

The Federal Ministry of Health inaugurates Monday, at the Medical Supplies Headquarters in Port Sudan, the Kuwaiti-Saudi grant in partnership between the Kuwaiti Red Crescent and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), in the presence of the Kuwaiti Red Crescent delegation.

The grant includes cancer medicines and personal hygiene equipment, at a cost of one million dollars, provided by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in collaboration with KSRelief. The Acting Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ismat Mustafa, said that the grant, which contributes to filling the gap for cancer patients, amounts to one million dollars and provided by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society in collaboration with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Kuwait Patient Care Fund, indicating that humanitarian aid is still continuing from brotherly and friendly countries. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health thanked the two countries for providing aid for cancer treatment medications, in addition to personal hygiene aids, stressing the urgent need for many other aids. For his part, Abdul-Rahman Al-Aoun, Director of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, said that humanitarian relief to Sudan would continue, in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, to deliver it to those in need in all cities and villages of Sudan. He added that this was a duty towards our people in Sudan to alleviate their suffering, particularly the health sector, which is a very important aspect as there is a major shortage of hospitals, medicines and equipment, revealing continued cooperation with brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to deliver this aid to alleviate the suffering of our Sudanese brothers, whether in health aspects or others. He added "We, the governments and peoples of the Gulf Cooperation Council, are with our brothers and people in Sudan". Al-Aoun stressed that the medicine shipment came within the framework of ongoing aid in implementation of the directives of the Kuwaiti political leadership to support our brothers in Sudan, noting that the society sent the first ship last September loaded with 190 tons of food and medical supplies, pointing out that the shipment of cancer medicines will be followed by shipments of chronic disease medicines such as Kidney and diabetes, and visits will be organized by Kuwaiti and Sudanese medical personnel for joint cooperation between the ministries of health in the two countries.
