Press Statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan asserts that the allegations circulated by the rebel militia today that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) had bombed the Ethiopian Embassy Chancery in Khartoum, causing great destruction, are unfounded. They are a mere failed propaganda ploy by the terrorist militia’s to tarnish the image of SAF. Having been defeated in the direct combat, the Militia resorted to disguise in SAF uniform to commit crimes and atrocities, targeting public and private institutions, in order these crimes be attributed to SAF. In fact, SAF has on different occasions alerted the public to this ploy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, therefore, condemns in the strongest terms the criminal shameful attack by the Militia on the Embassy of the sisterly Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. This attack comes as an extension of the Militia's previous crimes, as it has targeted, from the very beginning of its rebellion, diplomatic missions, offices of international organizations and expatriate communities. Those buildings have been looted, destroyed , and occupied by the Militia, while diplomats, including ambassadors, and evacuation convoys were assaulted . In addition the Militia's attacks on the public and private institutions, service centers, and public transportation stations, and its indiscriminate bombing of residential areas, has become its modus operandi, illustrating state of desperation and hopelessness, following the complete defeat it has been dealt. Conversly, SAF embodies the best of international military traditions of discipline, professionalism, and high precision in determining their goals, as well as strict adherence to international law, including the inviolability of diplomatic entities . SAF has wholly fulfilled its role in protecting diplomatic missions and evacuating diplomats, workers, international organizations, and foreign communities from Khartoum in a professional manner that is praised and appreciated by all.
