Sudan South Sudan Agree to Cooperate in Area of Minerals and Exchange of Expertise

Khartoum, June15 (SUNA)-Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan have agreed to cooperate in field of mining and exchange of experiences and geological information during sitting of talks which was held today at premises of Ministry of Minerals headed by Minister of Minerals , Mohamed Bashir Abu Numu and Minister of Mining of the Republic of South Sudan, Martin Gama. Abu-Numu said in a joint press statement with his Souath Sudanese counterpart that the talks reviewed horizons of joint cooperation between the two countries in domain of minng and experience exchange , specially in the traditional mining sector and that the South Sudanese side requested the Sudanese experiences in areas of monitoring and development and transfer of experiences of the Sudanese Minerals Resources Company. He added that the coming stage will witness joint work between the two countries and providing training opportunities for the South Sudanese side particularly that Sudan possesses geological information and the two countries were one country and that cooperation between them is inevitable and strategic. The South Sudanese Minister of Mining, Martin Gama, for his part, expressed pleasure over his first visit to Sudan, indicating that the talks tackled the relations between the two countries and cooperation in area of geology and expertise and information sharing. He affirmed his country’s need of Sudan’s experiences in field of mineral mining and geological research and that the visits to Sudan would continue to translate outcomes of these visits for interests of the two people of the two countries

It is to be noted that the South Sudanese Minister of Mining and his accompanying daelegation paid visit to Khartoum Gold Refinery and got acquainted with Sudan’s experiences in refining gold and that the Minister will pay similar visits to other companies of the Ministry. ab
