Experts start Preparation Meetings for IGAD Ministerial Meeting in Khartoum

Meetings of the experts of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) member states began this morning at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, within the framework of preparation for the 48th session of the ministerial meeting of IGAD.

The Sudan’s Ambassador to Djibouti, Ambassador Rahma Saleh Al-Obeid, permanent delegate to IGAD and chairperson of the IGAD Ambassadors Committee, pointed in press statements, following the meeting to the importance of the meeting, which constitutes resumption of the work of the Ministerial Council.
She added that there are a number of important topics to be discussed by the meeting, on top of which is peace and security in the region, and the negative effects of natural disasters and humanitarian conditions in the region, pointing to a number of issues related to the administrative aspects of IGAD to be discussed, including the new structure of the organization and the renewal of the agreement establishing IGAD.
Ambassador Rahma said that the expert meeting will present a number of recommendations on these issues, tomorrow, for the Ministerial Council meeting in preparation for a decision on it.
