Dr. Salma briefed on challenges facing Rahad Agricultural Scheme

Khartoum, March 20 (SUNA) - Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Dr. Salma Abdul-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, has got acquainted with the challenges and obstacles facing the production operations at Rahad Agricultural Scheme. Dr. Salma underscored during a meeting in her office in the Republican Palace today with a delegation of the scheme's farmers the necessity of upgrading the irrigation system, stressing her concern with the scheme as it is one of the most important sources of support to the national economy. For his part, the head of the delegation explained in a press statement that they briefed Dr. Salma on the obstacles facing Rahad Agricultural Scheme, which are represented in irrigation and electricity and the need to replace old pumps and open canals.
