Minister denies shutting down of oilfield

Minister of Energy and Oil Jadain Ali Obaid

Khartoum, Aug 2 (SUNA) - Minister of Energy and Oil ,Jadain Ali Obaid denied news reports on the storming of the Bambu Oil field by an armed group, explaining that what took place is a protest by an unarmed group of citizens of the region about the social services that must be provided. He said they closed the station for a period not exceeding two hours, during which the Ministry and the company negotiated with that group and reached understandings with them. Jadain confirmed the ministry and the company's response to their demands and the return of work in the field. The Minister of Energy and Oil told SUNA that the doors of the ministry and its companies are open, that the channels of communication regarding the provision of social services are open, that social services are an inherent right of the people of the region, and that what happened is a result of the accumulation of grievances since the previous regime and the failure to restore rights to its people. Jadain hinted that this escalation today has a political motivation that some of the owners of the hidden agenda have exploited to create confusion and security chaos against the transitional government of the revolution.
