Foreign Minister Receives Head of UNITAMS Mission

Khartoum, Feb. 22 (SUNA) – The Foreign Minister, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, Monday received in her office the Special Envoy and Head of the United Nations Integrated Transitional Support Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), Volker Perthes. The Minister welcomed the UNITAMS, expressing her gratitude to the United Nations for its response to Sudan request and its mandate to support the transitional government to achieve its priorities. She affirmed Sudan keenness to cooperate with the mission to achieve the common goals, pointing the importance of enhancing the Sudanese community's awareness of the role of the international organization and its missions in Sudan as well as benefiting from past experiences and the institu-tional memory of the UNAMID to ensure maximum benefit from the support and financing of the or-ganization. On his part, Mr. Perthes asserted the keenness of UNITAMS mission to support the transitional peri-od’s government in Sudan. MO
